Kim
Kim Kendrick, 36, is a professional dog
groomer and owner of Dog Doos Grooming and Dog Doos Poopy
Pickup in Latham.
Kendrick grew up in Miami and
Hollywood, FL, with a dog, several cats,
hamsters, rabbits and lizards. One of her fondest childhood
memories is bottle-feeding and raising six stray kittens
abandoned in her backyard.
Kendrick received her bachelor’s degree in
Communications from Boston University (1994)
and participated in a study abroad program in
Madrid, Spain.
Her journalism career spanned 12
years, beginning at WCTI-TV in New Bern, NC, where she
worked as a production assistant and news producer. She
then moved to Albany, NY, and worked as a news
producer/writer/editor at WNYT, NewsChannel 13. As the
“Live at Noon” producer, Kendrick created and produced a
weekly “Pets & Vets” segment showcasing local
veterinarians, animal agility and obedience trainers and other
animal care professionals.
In 2001, Kendrick
joined the Corporate Communications department at St.
Peter’s Hospital as a communications assistant and then
manager, Public Relations.
In June of 2006, Kendrick
pursued her lifelong dream of working with animals
and began apprenticing under a local pet groomer. She
then operated her own grooming business as an independent
contractor in a local grooming shop. While there, she began
a relationship with the Mohawk & Hudson
River Humane Society where she still volunteers each week as
a dog care assistant. She opened Dog Doos
Grooming in Latham in October of 2008.
Kendrick
is a member of the National Dog Groomers
Association, and participates in national grooming competitions and continuing education
programs several times a year. She is an
avid reader of canine health and grooming information, and participates
in community events to educate pet owners about the importance
and health benefits of grooming.
Kendrick lives in North Colonie with her husband,
Mike; their son, Michael; and their two dogs, Jake (Beagle)
and Jordan (Husky). |

Jake
Jake is a purebred Beagle rescued
from a farm in a small North Carolina town. He
will be 14 years old on March 13, 2009. He is our
wonder dog, battling through several illnesses that
nearly took his life. He is a cuddler and loves to
have the covers over his head. He also loves to
get into the garbage! He is named after the
country music song “Feed Jake.”
“Feed Jake. He’s been a
good dog. My best friend right through it
all. If I die before I wake, feed Jake.” - Pirates Of The
Mississippi

Jordan
Jordan is an Alaskan Husky (mixed
with coyote we believe). She has one blue eye and
one brown eye. She was rescued from the Warren
County SPCA after being seized in part of a large animal
cruelty case. She turned 9 years old on
October 16, 2008. She loves chasing the tennis
ball - and us - and playing with other
dogs. She is named after Michael Jordan, my
husband’s favorite basketball player of all
time. | |
